Talk With Your Dog

Dog owners would love this gadget .. afterall, some of us treat our dogs like our sons and daughters right..?? and you are the mama.

Depending on what breed you have, dogs can be quite expressive. Sure, they can’t speak, but they can express what’s going in their little minds. What would you say to a machine that could record and translate your dog’s barks while you were away?

The dog translator works in a bunch of different ways. First, it functions like the original Bowlingual. It’s able to interpret six different moods from your dog. It comes with a paw-shaped remote control and an LCD screen. The remote also contains a bunch of different pre-recorded phrases to tell you what is on your dog’s mind.

The Bowlingual Voice has the ability to record what your dog “says”. You can then listen to this when you return from work. This means that you’ll know what happens at home while you are away. Barring the installation of a few webcams, this is probably the easiest way of doing this. Sounds interesting, but we are still confused about what the device can actually do. It’s apparent that it allows the dog to communicate with you thanks to the “translator”. It’s just too bad that you can’t reply to him in the manner of a dog. We would have liked the remote to bark back at Fido.

Joking aside, this sort of technology would really develop greatly if it was used in an open-source way by functioning like Google Translate and people would input their data online. This would enable the translation engine to improve. At some point, you’d get some really interesting results. This device costs about $200 and has just been released in Japan. As for us, we’ll just wait for Google Translate to integrate barks.

Death Of The Red Ring

Ever since the xbox 360 was on sale .. some years ago, I keep hearing about the red ring of death.  I’m kinda surprised that there are some ppl who still donch know that xbox or microsoft warranties this by default.  Many customers comes in .. and try to sell them to us for parts in which we would advise them to give a call to Microsoft.   They pretty much take care of you . .from the time.. they pick up the call.. and pay for the shippinig and all.

But having said all the above.. I’m sure Microsoft wants to see the death of the Red Ring more than anyone else.  Can’t imagine them.. liking the fact that they are paying extras.. for all the shipping and sending out new or refurbished machines.   Microsoft began sneaking out Xbox 360s with the smaller, cooler 65 namometer “Falcon” CPU chipset inside when they released the Halo 3 special edition console this past holiday.  And while they said it is less prone to the same problem, it’s the next revision of the system codenamed “Jasper” that would elimate the problem once and for all.  Jasper will be on sale in August.

Best Selling Game

Mario Kart Wii was the biggest selling game across the UK, US and Japan last year, shifting nearly 9 million copies.  That’s according to a Top Global Markets report - a collaboration between GfK Chart-Track (UK), NPD (US) and Enterbrain (Japan).

Wii Fit came a close second, followed by GTAIV, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and COD: World at War.

Grand Theft Auto IV led the pack back in August, when the only other change had been Guitar Hero III in place of Call of Duty: World at War.

Sales across all regions were up 11 per cent on 2007, with the UK market in particular noting a dramatic increase of 26 per cent. Japan, however, dipped by 13 per cent.

“Because of this amazing growth and coupled with the downturn currently being experienced in Japan, the UK market has for the first time overtaken Japan as the number two world market,” said GfK Chart-Track’s Dorian Bloch in a statement.

Aliant Cuts 100 Jobs In Nova Scotia

For a minute.. i thought they were cutting jobs of the lower ranking .. but i’m pleased to know it is the management jobs they are axing to cut cost.  About time.. i’ll say..!!  Aliant plans to axe more jobs in the next couple of months not only in Nova Scotia.. but Atlantic Canada, rural Ontario.. and Quebec is not spared too.  I bet everyone is worried.. for their rice bowl.. and don’t even need Leptovox for the worrying is gonna make them lose some weight.  And for those who are gonna eventually get axed.. well.. they gotta tighten their belts..?? nah.. no way.. the governement will come to their rescue.. and unemployment kicks in.

Software Piracy

I read over the news that some Chinese gang selling software counterfeits were arrested and sentenced to 6.5 years of jail in China.. the harshest sentence passed down in history for China’s piracy laws.  These ppl were charged for selling at least $2 billion worth of Microsoft counterfeit softwares/programs.

For those who are not aware of this.. a local computer store got busted too.. for selling or installing pirated copies of Microsoft softwares in this small town too.  I heard (rumors) that Microsoft went after them for half a million dollars. They declared bankruptcy.. but i heard they are still doing it from home.  Oh well.. i guess they have to pay for a living, lighting and power eh.

Boxing Day Crazy

So were you one of the crazy Canadians on the news..?? yes even here in small town Yarmouth, the Canadian tire i heard had to open an hour earlier.. because it was so cold and ppl were queuing at 2am in the morning.  These ppl I salute.. and are CRAZY..!!

In Vancouver, more than 200 people lined up outside of a Future Shop in downtown Vancouver to try to get bargains on electronics.  In Calgary, parking lots were overflowing at the malls despite icy conditions in the city. And in Winnipeg, even with temperatures dipping to -24 C overnight, hundreds stood in lines outside of stores.  In Toronto’s Eaton Centre, more than 300 people were lined up outside of Abercrombie & Fitch for its Boxing Day prices. The store was only letting 50 people in at a time.

So yes..!!  i do declare that the Canadians can get quite crazy.  I didn’t shop on Boxing day .. like these ppl .. but unlike John Chow .. my reasons weren’t like him.  As for Mr Chow.. i’ll have to say that not everyone makes $250 an hour, therefore when ppl do line up to get specials.. it is understandable eh.

The Wii

The Wii had been out for 3 Christmases now.. yet we are still getting so many request for it.  Last week, I had like 20 calls at the store of someone looking for one.  It’s crazy.. no..??  VERY..!  A friend/customer bought his 2 months ago for his daughter this Christmas.. because we had warned him to buy it then .. if he wanted one for Christmas.  But never did we think that it was gonna be sold out at other stores like Walmart and Superstore. Some customer/s wanted it so bad, they said they don’t even need phentermine to help them suppress their appetite now because they couldn’t eat without a Wii for Christmas (they promised their kids to get one and now it is too late).  Poor parents!

Xbox 360 ? Or Xbox ?

So what would you buy ..?? and xbox .. or an xbox 360???  the xbox was like a volvo.. tough .. and solid.. and what an ugly color… wherelse the xbox 360 is sleek and pretty trendy looking.. and is said to do more.. and better for online gaming.  I wasn’t too surprised that Microsoft announced that it did better than its predecessor.  But man..!! i’ve never seen ppl having so much trouble.. with any system.. than with the xbox 360.  Just as I am typing this.. another customer of ours.. walk in with a Xbox 360 for repair again.  Besides the red ring of death.. that we see so often.. there is another E74 video error.. that keeps showing up on these machines.  So what do you think…?? i say .. for $199 for the  basic system.. the man said.. it was worth buying.
