By now - I’m sure you have all seen the launch of the iPad by Steve Job - Apple’s co-founder.   You must be pretty hyped like i was eh..??   Like any geeky friends - i’m pretty sure you are hyped at any new  electronics that are launched.   Anyhow, the iPad has a 9.7″ screen with IPS Technology.  At $499 - well starting at $499 - the iPad does have a lot of features similar to an iPod Touch - the spouse had joked that it was a bigger version of a iPod Touch.   If you haven’t seen the video on the keynote in San Fransisco, google it and you can find them on you tube and just about any geek sites.

So another new update!  you know I fear all these updating.. because.. I’m such a slow learner with new things.  And I learned that the update affect 36 files. A simple upload and replace will do it or you can use the auto updater built into the WordPress admin. The update doesn’t affect the database - now that’s good to know eh.

I was happily typing away.. when my grandaunt shouted from the bedroom.. that CRT causes cancer.. and i shouldn’t go on the computer too much.  So i rolled my eyes.. and put it behind me.. afterall, i do take care of my skin.. and i have my daily skin care routine - shouldn’t that be good enough..?? So this is what i found out below.  I think i better stop spending so much time on the computer eh.

Studies show that long-term exposure to radiation increases the risk of all forms of cancer, tumors, blood disorders, miscarriage, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, aging of the skin, skin burn, etc.

SURREY, B.C. - Mounties in Surrey, B.C., say a woman who died in a car accident last month appears to have been killed by her laptop computer.

Heather Storey, 25, was driving to work March 16 when her vehicle was hit by a tow truck. Storey’s laptop was sitting unsecured in her back seat and RCMP spokesman Sgt. Roger Morrow says the vehicle’s abrupt stop sent the computer flying into the back of Storey’s head. The force of the blow was so severe that it shattered the computer’s screen and bent the frame.

The coroner determined that Storey died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Morrow says investigators believe the accident was survivable and that police are warning the public to secure their belongings while driving.

I was chatting with someone online.. and the person had requested i post a picture.. of myself.. so that she can see who techy chick is.  I guess they must all think that ppl who are as geeky as i am.. must be someone who is big in size and needs diet pill and is only good at hiding behind the screen.  Well, the person isn’t right at all .. because this techy chick isn’t one of those.  Sorry dudette..!!!

Geek rooms for geeks is a must .. when we are traveling for business, but they of course need to have all the geeky stuff.  Well, it would be preferable of course, especiallyif you need to lug the spouse along for your business trips and you want to keep him occupied.. else he won’t go on a trip with you no more.  I’ve been to a few .. and whenever i book a hotel, i check them out first.  Another reason for a geeky hotel is that you don’t need to lug all  your geeky stuff along.  A traveling hazard if you asked me.

It is funny how Asia are so advance in certain things.. and you would think the West would be even quicker to come out with ideas like the Asians.  Only in 2006 did i hear that the technologist in the US are looking and promising these smart homes to the consumers.

Automated lighting and intelligent climate control with audio/video .. in the entire house to see what your maids and wives or husband is doing while you are at work, is not new to me .. at least.  Having said that.. these multi million gadget custom homes are not for everyone back home.  But now, you can get homes here in the range of less than 1 million.  I’ve often wanted to stay in the Outer Banks but I don’t know if they are offering these custom homes.  With economy the way it is.. it wouldn’t be a surprise to me if the developers decided to go this way to stir up the market .. with this novelty.
