Camping With Our RV

Trying to get the best of the last summer sun - we sent our RV for some  motorhome repairs and upkeeps and headed up to Ellenwood Park with some friends for the weekend.  The park was surprisingly clean and had lots for the kids to do - from a playground to biking and swimming and canoeing - we had a really good time.  The washroom was really clean too - and that was a plus - although our motorhome has a bathroom too - but it was nice that we didn’t have to use it.   We loved that our motorhome is covered by insurance and they even covered the repair of our leaking refrigerator.  Pretty awesome right?

Not only that - if our  Motorhome breaks down during our vacation - we are also covered up to $100 a day for up to 10 days. So if you use your motor homes as much as we do during the summer - I figured you would get your coverage too by now.  It had been an awesome summer for us - what about yours?

Adwords $100

I do like google - although they can be quite the Nazis at times - like the g/f who had adsense on her websites/blogs and then got banned for no reason she knows at all.  Of course, we all know how google can be - they are not called the Lord Google for nothing eh.  Anyhow, the spouse does advertise with google - so every once in a while we get this freebie - that he never uses - why? because his company has a huge account with google and they never use them.  But lately - google had been sending quite a few of this - and it had been lying around his office desk for a long time - so i had asked him - how come he never take advantage of it - in which he replied - they already have a budget for google and don’t make sense not to use that budget at the office.  Plus he said with every freebie - there is sure to be some catch to it. hahah!!  cautious or being paranoid?

BlogHer10

BlogHer is even a bigger community than I had thought.  I have a few blogging friends who went to the recent BlogHer 10 and returned with full of zest and excited.  I wanna go every year but never made it - you see I want to do some networking too  -for BlogHer has been around for a long time now.  They are something like FoodBuzz and they create opportunities for women who blog to gain exposure, educated them and connect them with advertisers and likewise.  But in order to join BlogHer - they are quite strict with their requirements too - so for those who are already in BlogHer - i don’t know how they do it - because they do sponsored posts and all too, well - except the few that i know.   But i know of some who had returned with less than they had expected?  I read some blogger posts - while they all enjoyed it - not all came back with the exposure they hoped to get.  Maybe - too many participants - and only the important ones - got noticed?  Will i attend?  sure - just to experience it first hand - maybe next year eh?  but do you need to already be in BlogHer to join?  i have to find out.

Buy Cheap Game Systems/Games

Why do parents or grandparents insist on buying new systems for their kids when you can get them just as good from a used game store?  or even games - games are like $80 for the good ones - therefore, i never get my kids or the spouse any new games - i tell them to wait a bit and get a used one which is a lot cheaper and if you can wait even longer - you can even get it at half price.  Find a good and reliable used game store in your town and you can find treasures there.  The games and systems work just as good - all our systems and games are used and we never have a problem with them and if we do - we bring them back for a good buffing and it’s all set to go.  Plus with a used game store - once you are done with the games or wanna upgrade to another console - you can also get in-store credit for them.  Never go to big game store like EB games or GameStop - try your locally owned used game store because they are usually a lot fairer in trades.  Good luck all!

Modern Bathrooms

Bathroom wasn’t as pretty as this when i was growing up, you could say that I yearned for a modern bathroom like this as soon as I could afford to buy my own house.  You would think that the bathroom is the least to worry about when you buy a home but it’s not true - it’s just as important.   The technical aspect of having a good toilet - can save you lots of headache and trouble in the near future.  We looked at the   Saniflo toilet and the range the offered online plus there were rebates for many models too.   One advise is the pump that one is buying - they are all made different - so make sure you check it out - i was told about this by my designer friend.  You don’t want to have to unplugged your toilet bowl all the time - not only is it unhygienic, it is too time consuming.  Love good looking bathrooms - but the functionality is just as important if you asked me.

StarCraft 2

Well about time!!!  i saw it on Zellers flyers this week that it will go on sale on the 27 midnight!  Will you be the first at the store to get it?  Starcraft 2 is definitely long overdue - this game was popular like 10 yrs ago - when i first arrived in Canada and time and again - we still get people asking for the first version of it in the store.  So what is so great about Starcraft or Starcraft 2 ?

Well, it’s going 3D from what i’ve read and of course Blizzard will be making tons of money from it as usual.  Only on PC of course - I heard that one can expect some very awesome graphic. Facial expressions, character movement, sound and art design are not disappointing.  Did you know that the original Starcraft sold 1.5million copies in the first year?  yup! you heard me right and another 11 million copies after that.  Like i said - gamers are still asking for it once in a while.  I can’t wait to get a copy of it.

Laptop Cooler

Actually it’s a cooling pad - i’ve been asked so many times about it at our store - at first i didn’t know that it existed - until the spouse corrected me - when a customer asked me.  I had thought that the only thing to do is to blow the dust outta the fan in your lappie and that would keep the laptop/notebook cool again.  But i was wrong - hahah!! so silly of me eh.

Anyhow, like all smart chick - i too don’t want to pay too much for a laptop cooling pad, so when i saw one at Amazon.com - i had to tell my customers they can get one there for just $17.88 - A Belkin F5L001 -Cooling Stand prevents your laptop against overheating. The unique patented wave design uses natural convection to enhance fan. This stand has low power consumption with the USB port on your laptop without power cumbersome. Because the laptops today are based on fast processors to do the work, they create a lot of heat, with much of that land directly on your lap. Some laptops may have a “normal temperature” as high as 120 degrees Fahrenheit have, that’s not only dangerous and uncomfortable, it can also take you from your laptop, because it can block unexpectedly decline, and overall life expectancy.

Stitch Panoramic Photos

I’ve always been amazed at folks who takes panoramic shots of scenery and wonder how they do it?  is it the camera or was it a special software but i was too lazy to look it up or ask anyone - not because i was too proud but i figured if i wanted to know bad enough - i would be able to find the information on the net - just like diet pills that work .

Well, it wasn’t me that needed to do a panoramic shot - but my kid for a school project - so here it is - some locales that cannot be captured in a standard 5×7 inch photograph, like the Grand Canyon for instance.  So to replicate the ultra wide field of vision in digital photography, you’ll need to use a technique called panoramic photography.  One way to do this is by investing in an expensive DSLR camera and as fisheye lens designed specifically for capturing wide stretching scenes.  But the quickest way to create the same effect with a $50 point and shoot is also possible.

First you need a digital camera, a tripod which is optional, and use the Microsoft image composite editor which is free.  Stitching is really easy - i heard it doesn’t come any easier with Microsoft’s Image Composite Editor.  After you install and load the program, select the photos on your hard drive or camera’s memory card and drag and drop them into ICE’s main window.  ICE will do the dirty work for you and automatically stitch the images together.  Easy - peasy - have fun now.
