Digital Price Tagging

Digital pricing tags may not be popular here yet but in Singapore and other parts of the world - like South Africa - already started digital price tags.  Japan had digital price tags since 2006 - and some parts of USA has digital price tags.  So what are the pros and cons of digital price tagging?

I say it makes everything easier for the night shift fellas -  who needs to take stock and re - price everything if they needed to go on sale or not on sale.  The cons - would be - the hacking part into the store  - I haven’t heard of any yet - but we’ll have to see eh.  So how much is changing everything into digital price tagging?   I figured it must be a lot - but no one had reported the cost as of yet - but small businesses like ours - I doubt you will see digital price tagging anytime soon.  Even Walmart may not go digital price tagging - since they won’t even chipped their debit and credit card machine.

BuckyBalls Pink

Pink is definitely pretty - but you must be wondering what do they do right?  I wondered too - I walked around Staples the other day and saw these on sale.  So I looked at it - and it didn’t really tell me a lot.  These buckyballs has 216 neo-magnet balls and are made with nickel finish.  Well, I found a video on youtube on it - and it looked pretty fun - basically - you just turned them into things and shapes you want. Apparently, these are made to relieve stress but not for kids to play with - guess they are afraid that kids may swallow them - and I won’t rule that out - because I pushed an eraser into my nose when I was a kid.  What was I thinking right?  Pretty amusing - and it would cost you like $30 for them - after shipping.

2011 Mini Cooper Clubman

I still haven’t gave up on getting a mini for a car and it doesn’t need to be the latest model - like the 2011 clubman - but I hear that one can get a mini for close to $25K these days  - which is almost the same was our ford focus - so definitely worth looking into.   But wait a minute - false advertising on Mini cooper’s website?  because on Kijiji - it cost like $21K for a used one.  So I went to Mini’s website in Canada and punched in all I wanted for my car - now the base cost is $27K and an extra of $5K for miscellaneous - which comes up to about $33K + taxes.  So I have to pay about $700 a month just to get that car and just for the car.  I have to pay insurance on it  - and on top of it - feed the car with gas and regular maintenance.  Wow!  too much money to be spent on one item for the next 5 years - so for now I guess I have to settle for a cheaper car.

Google +

Sometime in June this year - Google introduced Google plus - on trial basis - as a gmail user - I was invited by another gmail account holder to try out Google plus - but being on Facebook already took up so much of my time - I asked myself if I needed another social networking app.  I didn’t check it out immediately until some friends added me into their circles - so i decided - what the heck - and to take a few minutes and see what is this Google plus all about.  Truth be told till today - I’m still not really making use of Google plus - although according to Google they already have like 1 billion users/signed up?  But you can use Google plus on your iPhone just like Facebook and video chat too - those in the same circle.   And google had been trying hard to convince people that Facebook is a thing of the past and old news.  Just like Google they want to own the internet market - from advertising to everything.  So some 19 hrs ago - google announced that it has free games for anyone with a Google Plus account.   I’m gonna try it out today - and tell you more about it later.  Are you on Google plus yet?

Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870

Our good friend - Gary just upgraded his computer and this was the video card that he had ordered !  pretty cool looking right?

The spouse said that Gary’s video card is much better than his now.

Now Gary can play his war of world craft properly.  As per Gary - when your character go into the water - you can see the water ripple.  It’s 10 times better than his previous video card - HD3450.    Gary paid $260 for the card.

Gigabyte shows off a custom-design Radeon HD 6870 graphics card with slightly overclocked frequencies and the company’s WindForce 3X cooling solution. The card has a custom PCB with Gigabyt’s Ultra Durable VGA+ design and is equipped with the WindForce 3X - a GPU cooler with three 80mm fans and a large aluminium fin array.

The factory overclocking is quite limited, the GPU core received a 15MHz boost to 915MHz and with a frequency of 4200MHz the 1GB GDDR5 has the same clockspeed as the reference card. Display outputs include dual-DVI, dual-DisplayPort and HDMI.

Dual Diagnosis

I am on treatment for anxiety - and although the medication given to me is for both my anxiety and panic disorder - I still see a psychiatrist on recommendation by my family doctor.  I’ve always had panic attacks since I was pregnant with my daughter and as the years went by - I became better without taking any medication nor talking to anyone.  But I became very dependent on my spouse and every little thing can trigger my attacks.

Last year - I had a very bad one - and I knew I had to seek help.  I pride myself as being able to identify a problem and nip the problem at its bud.  I read a lot about my diagnosis and learned about dual diagnosis although my family doctor didn’t tell me about it.  But it sure feels that way - because I don’t only have one condition but 2 at least if not more.   Some people feel shy about having anxiety attacks, depression and anxiety - but as someone who have all the above - let me assure you - there is nothing to be ashamed of.  Do seek help - because i felt better after taking my medication and talking to someone about it.  Good luck all!

Easter Tradition For Kids

While it is not a huge celebration back home - Easter is a time to shower the kids here with more gifts - or traditionally - the grandparents are the one who insist on buying gifts for them - for doing well in school.  What is your family’s easter tradition? do your in laws buy easter gifts for kids like ours do?  I don’t encourage a huge celebration for Easter - but some small and meaning easter gifts is fine with me.  But to splurge and just buy toys for them - I really don’t encourage, what about you?  I think Easter is a time for families to spend quality time with their family - relatives and friends - what do you think?
